Also since my parents raised me by my middle name I never had any problems with friends mixing us up. Pretty much had no problems until after high school. The problem we did have was when the Armed Forces were trying to recruit me out of high school. I think it really depends what is on your birth certificate. If it includes Jr then it is a legal part of a legal signature. Similarly, I very sincerely doubt anyone has a birth certificate which includes Sr.

As an aside, my father's legal name had Jr after it even though his first name was not exactly the same as his father's. Spoonge Boob Holographic Meatloaf? My favorite! In latin countries I live in Puerto Rico the usage of two last names makes this less likely to ocurr. You may have the same first and last name from your father but your second last name comes from your mother and therefore will be different from your father's. Of course, there is always the chance that your mother may have the same last name as your grandmother from your father but it is not that common.
Then again most people have a middle name also and the legal name is the full name including first and middle name and both last names. As a side note, normally women don't change their name when married.

My signature has never been legible though I just put a big C and a squiggly line and no one has ever said anything. When you think about it, the whole deal is sexist. Men can be called "junior" after their fathers, but there are no women who are "junior" after their mothers. I was only called on it though for usage on legal documents, such as for loans, various licenses, etc. I sign legal paperwork with my signature which is un-legible anyways.
